Forums

Welcome to the forums. Here we can discuss, share opinions, provide information on any topic that concerns you as Jacobs students and as citizens of the world. As students here, you will definitely have to get used to the infamous ’spam wars’ that take place over the students’ mailing list. Be it a question on “German politics” or “Linux or Windows?”, vitually any email can evolve into a heated spam war. But there is no need to worry about the tension created, for what happens on the spam list, stays on the spam list! ;) Consider these forums an opportunity to have such meaningful discussions in a friendly and productive atmosphere.

Maybe your main attraction to Jacobs University is the cultural diversity, but what can you really expect? The Culture Shock forum gives personal accounts of incidents and experiences and answers your questions in this area.

Germany may be an overwhelming change for some of you. In the Deutschland forum we can chat all about Germany. Find out what you can expect and what may be expected of you. Any topic concerning Germany (history, culture, politics, climate) is welcome for discussion.

So you have heard some rumors about academic expectations or you want to clarify information about administration processes? In the Jaaacobs forum we will try to enlighten you a bit with whatever you need or want to know about internal goings-on at the university.

The Round Table is where we will discuss subjects of political interest, global issues and anything that may be of interest to you. You may find that many Jacobs students are quite opinionated and this is not a bad thing. What can we talk about if not the things that really matter?

If you have a question or idea that you think does not fall into any of these categories, post it in the Miscellaneous group and we’ll discuss it there. Join a discussion and start chatting. We want to hear from you!
